Wow...What a terrible way to treat one's fellow countrymen and women. I had watched a few documentaries on the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot, and S-21...what a terrible time to be a Cambodian.
I find it incredible that even after Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge had been defeated by the Vietmanese invasion that the Cambodian people didn't punish many (if any?) of the "evil-doers" of the crimes against humanity. Even the guards of S-21 were spared and in the interviews I watched, had zero remorse for all the terrible things they did...it was like a job to them and it was their duty to mistreat, torture and kill their fellow Cambodians. It's tough to rap your mind around all that...I wonder if the Buddhist beliefs of the Cambodians had anything to do with why many of the culprits weren't punished?
BTW...Good link Mic. Pretty interesting read!

A high ranking Buddhist monk here in Thailand was asked why the foreigners who live here run into so many problems with the culture....... He replied " They think ! " " We do, foreigners think before doing !" This is from the Bangkok post newspaper... " When a Thai person gets on a motorbike or behind the wheel of a car in the morning, the first thing they think of is " This is a good day to die ." I found this true in Vietnam also, people are not afraid of death, they look forward to it ...... It is their chance to improve on their life ! This is hard to comprehend with our beliefs.....
