There is only one way for this forum to work and that is for everyone to take a part in it.. In other martial art forums most people are comfortable to sit back and just see what is posted. That's great, I've done the same thing. Thing is this is a small group of people who specialize in kung fu.. Please join in and let me , us know what is on your mind.....

Thanks for the welcome. this seems very interesting. I've studied martial arts for awhile. I like kung fu, but could you tell me the biggest difference between a basic kungfu style and a regular karate style...thanks.

Not sure I could tell any difference between basic kung fu and regular karate, perhaps mostly the teachers. However deeper kung fu seems far more involved and certainly more entertaining, and enriching for long life. patrick

Hi Barney, GENERALLY SPEAKING, some of the differences between karate and kung fu are: Karate is very linear, external and hard while kung fu is circular, external and internal, and soft and hard (yin-yang). I'VE BEEN TOLD that when karate people get to a high level, they are at a lower level of kung fu. Higher levels of karate start to become circular. I'm sure there are exceptions. From what I understand, kung fu spread from China to Okinawa, then to Japan. It seems to me that things got filtered down. I hope that helps. Jay

Hey Gary I was waiting to hear responses to Barney's question about weight training, since I never did much. I go through streeks of picking out a movement, and running through it several times, many times throughout the day. For some reason the last couple of days I've been doing the drunken steps (no I'm not drinkin') along with the windmill. just alternating sides as I walk down the hall. I try not to do it when people are around. Some times I get busted, but most my co-workers already know I'm nuts ;D And yes, I still do cat and crane movements going up the stairs the stairs.... pat

There is a new thread for people who would like to buy or sell anything on this site. Jay wanted to distribute the videos of our style.. They are terrific !! But , not only that but they are going to help the kids mostly. These are the kids who have nothing and will never get better! Whenever I feel sorry for my self being a little sick I think of these kids who are so brave and are alone in this world and live truly from day to day... when I go to the Camillian center I try to remember who was there on my last visit... when I ask about someone who I don't see I always get the look from a child who tells me that they are with their mother and father now ....... There are a lot of people worse off than us....... Thanks for helping !

Kind of you to say, and although I'm not that old, I'm 37, had my son at 21.
