when I was in Rota, spain in 1964 I had a run in with Franco's gestapos. . After having a bit of a problem in a bar I tossed a tble over the bar and broke the glass mirror and then had to knock down a couple of folks on the way out the door..... ah, to be young and foolish and drunk. what an experience ! anyway, had to lay in a ditch filled with water and wait for the cops , soldiers to give up looking for us.
I've actually used the VA facility on wilshire Blvd in Westwood area and I have nothing but praise for the service they afforded me.... On the way out of the facility every person who worked there that I saw on the way in stopped to talk to me on the way out. They said " Thank you . " I said for what ? They said " For serving your country ." Thats a lot more than I've seen in other countries...... you can't judge our country until you've traveled to other countries, especially 3 rd world ........... and you see what people have to deal with !

The 2 Vet's hospitals that I took an elder to (Korean vet) was not a pretty sight. What is worse it the Vet's Halls or Posts:
USMC 'Nam Vet buddy is running marathon in Santa Cruz and hoping to make it to Boston! Yeah, That's his therapy! Post in Santa Cruz pretty much closed to Vets.;-( Their motto "WAGE FOR PEACE!" I wore the T-shirt to pieces! Post rented to yoga and concerts (civilians) and there is no "loitering" on the Main drag of Santa Cruz... well, depends on clothing and looks I guess. I'll go check it out, next week, w/my massage table. If we can't get it opened to them... we'll camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains State Park. I think they can stay 2 weeks for free. Nice when you are a HOMELESS VET!

Being Jealous is a lousy thing. I slap myself for getting caught up in the junk that they put on these forums. Most of these guys prattle on in a column that was meant for sharing. They have nothing to share ! They are very jealous of what we have and they would love to see it end.. There was a thread started by Anastasi and his shadow the shoemaker. The thread is completely worthless. Like they say " The truth is out there .!"
I guess I'm just rattling on now.... Time to go ..

You are so right Gary. They never mention anything about forms, internal power, what did Ark Wong actually say that made any difference in what they did, what they actually did when they trained other than they got some bruises. All they do is pat each other on the back. One thing I don't understand is Anastasi's statement that he ran Ark Wong's school for 10 years. Didn't Ark Wong run his own school?

You've got to understand something.. We have freedom of press. All these guys came out of the woodwork with all their claims of this and that ................ They never realized that there were other people who were around at that time also......... I was with GrandMaster Wong , along with SeMing from 1967 until the move to Daly St. I had never once heard GrandMaster Wong mention the name Jim Anastasi.. I did see Ron Shewmaker one afternoon taking a private lesson and I could tell you as though I can see it now. GrandMaster Wong looked at me watching him and made the rolling of the eyes and said " It pays the rent ."
I can and will share anything you want to know about those days long ago.. I nkow there are a lot of GrandMasters who would probably wish I would just go way and let them perpetuate their lies !!! NEVER HAPPEN !!!

"Menu du jour" or... special of the day: HORSES Low and high side horses of the Northern and Southern Shaolin. Gary et al. Please, educate me or let me know your thoughts... Because of doing a lot a raking, irrigating, planting, etc. this summer, I had lots of "Thinking Time" while "Horsing Around" the Modoc clay. 1) Do you think that: the low, medium 5/5 and high horse stances of: Northern and Southern Shaolin monks might have come from the lay of the land, lowering under tree branches or up or downhill labor? I have had to adjust, ducking under low Juniper branches or because of the pain in my lower back (old work injury, lack of KF training, at the time!) I do not know the lay of the land in N. or S. China but... it was a thought I had while "working out" in the "field." Any feed back? Talking about horses, still... I met a team of Clydesdale... WOW! 16 hands = BIG horses. Clydesdales are Flemish/Scottish. (No horse is pure bred, in my mind till a DNA test is done!) Even what they call: "Thoroughbred" are British/Arabian horses... therefore, mixed blood like most of us. If you think you are pure something... try to get a part in the remake of the movie "Deliverance," yikes! Clydesdale are elegant, calm giants with beautiful "feathers;" the long hair on their feet. I could only take pictures through bars but I could talk to them and they remained as calm and well mannered as Morgans - my favorites "brand" for their good disposition. OK, far from KF? Let me get to the next question. 2) Does someone know what kind of horse General Kwan or Kuan rode? If he was a big General with a heavy staff/lance... he must have ridden a big horse. Yes/No??? Thank you for your thoughts and information on those question. Curious Mic (part horse/part archer ;D) My plan this past weekend was to go camping. I got mesmerized at the local fairgrounds and never made it to camping Huh, I am already in the GREAT OUTDOORS! ;D Ever got a Kamikaze deer to knock one of the side view mirror of my little car, on my way to the other side of the mountain pass. Grrr! And... I was the third car in the caravan. Lucky me! Skip and I are OK, just a little shook up, at the time. What I saw on the road when I turned around looked like a bicycle helmet! It was the whole electrical passenger side - side view mirror. 3) Jim N... got any discounts for parts? ? Grrrr x2!

The horse stances depended on the terrain they practiced on. Northern different than Southern. Then the stances used by the boat people in the South was even lower and stronger. Check out anything you can find on the " Red boat kung fu people of China." Northern stances were higher. This is where most of the people ate wheat products. In the South they were mostly rice farmers and the stances were lower. the boat people used low and high stances depending on the condition of the water, such as rocking, rolling, etc..
General Qwon rode a Percheron. The Percheron was considered a war horse. They were huge and could handle heavy weights, and they were fast. They are gray dappled in color and were originally bred in La Perche, France to a race of people that travelled widely and sold the horses... they were known to travel the spice routes and that is how they ended up in China. Just in case anyone was interested. General Qwon was supposedly 7 foot tall + . They have old armor and clothing that substantiates this.. The weapon was named after him the " Qwon do." A regular knife ( A sword has two edges, a knife has one edge, regardless of the length.) was too small in his hand so he put the blade on a pole.

Thanks for all the good info, Gary! I looked up the Percheron horse. Impressive! Now, I am curious as to why the Flemish horses (ancestor of the Clydesdale) and the Percheron where so tall? I will ask around. After all, there are lots of knowledgeable "Horse folks" around here. ;D

Hey Gary, How about 'em Dodgers, huh? I notice people are looking at our forum but not participating. Voyeurs! We could copy other forums and do a "Members Only" magic trick or is it "Internal Power thang?" or... we'll just keep it to e-mails and other websites we share. What do you think? I think it's Turkey month, m'self. Do you know the Turkey was going to be the emblem of the US instead of the Bald Eagle? I also know you can cook a mean one. Too bad distance gets in the way. ESP me a thigh, will you? ;D Mic

Hey Mic., my forum is and has always been open to everyone. People just seem to hate me for some reason.. That's why I stay away from everyone now.. I really got fed up with all the politics.. Uncle Gary, knows who I am and knows that I have never spoken one bad word about him or any of my elders, even when they criticized me, behind my back (except Uncle Gary of course). He has always had his welcoming mat for me and he never told me I had to pick a side.. If you gentleman and ladies want my forum address just let me know.. It's totally different than most and is the original forum I started back in late 2004, but revamped for the new generation..
Peace, Sergio ;D

P.S. I have always tried to maintain a good relationship with others. The problem arises when individuals want me to pick a side and I will not.. However, there are those who I do not want to associate with, but that is a personal choice. Uncle Gary, I hope I can get to see you this time around. ;D
