Ok, I'm back.... With everything that has gone down this past year + , I feel my strength coming back and I feel ready to go .............I'm pretty sure anyway.. Big thing , and more important is " How are you doing ? " I hope you haqve been working out , and not wasting your time. Let me know what you've been doing , and what kind of progress you've been making .... I'll tell you what has kept me physicallystrong and has kept my thoughts positive to beat this crap that we are faced with from time to time ..Meditation ! any thoughts or any questions ?

Hey Gary, Glad to see you back here. Just doing kung fu keeps me going. Without it I would be a black belt in couch potato. My progress is in understanding form, structure, visualization and application - basically breaking down the movements and working out techniques with classmates. Forms without understanding application is nothing more than a dance.

Hi Jay , Good to see you here. Most don't realize the importance of what we are doing. The form , done correctly keeps the body in tune. It's like a car , you go for a tune-up and you get what you pay for...Sometimes the mechanic just wants to make a few bucks on you and tells you the things he has done , and in actuallity , nothing was ever done....You pull up to a car at a light and you want to show off a little bit , kind of like going to a tournament , you step on the gas , and you stall ! Same with some schools that say they are going to teach you something ,and turn you into a fighting machine, etc, etc ..... Bullnuts ! Know what you are doing ,respect others , and respect yourself ! Our forms have been copied , and imitated , but it only takes a peek under that hood to see that they aren't running anything ! Our kung fu is what helped to pull me through a very rough time.... Not over yet , but so what , half the fun is in the fight !! Have a great holiday , and post some stuff on the forum, let us get to know who some of you are , and what you are doing..... I know you look at this forum , but don't comment..........Why , are you that good ? Comment on anything , maybe it will help the rest of us....

Hi Gary, Alex told us today that he met a Chinese/Japanese monk, in his eighties, at the Theosophy Center and he told him that he did kung fu when he was young and now just does Tai Chi cause of his age. He also said that there are specific meditations for each of the 5 animals. He knew of them but didn't do them That's the gist of Alex's story. Have you ever heard of this?

Actually, yes. They are not associated with the true Dhamma Buddhism, and are not practiced by the monks here. There were many paths, but the Dhamma form was the end result of trial & error along the way. Each have points that attract others. Look at the Siddhus , who wander around India in groups naked ! They practice rituals of what may seem strange to us but accepted by them in their beliefs . I for one find it hard to find spiritual guidance by nailing my balls to a block of wood ! But, that's just me ... Meditation was practiced by the Shaolin monks , and it was taught to them by Dhamo. It can & will strengthen your kungfu.

There are a lot of people checking this site. The people in our class have been involved in this style for many many years. Myself , I've been in martial arts now 58 years . Many of our group for 30 + years... I would love to answer any questions or doubts about whatever style you are in ... I was accepted as a student by the late Grandmaster Ark Yuey Wong in 1967... there isn't much I haven't done or seen , so feel free to question us.......... At any rate , have a Happy Holiday !

This would be nice to get going again .. I wish we could coax people into commenting or doing anything , so we could get ideas and stories , and what have you rolling around again , before it's too late , and our grey matter is shot !

I didn't think so either but was hoping. At least, I'll only have to drive 2 hours instead of 11 to get to L.A. next time you show up!
