I agree with Steve, I used to argue alot with Steve regarding taking one step at a time and why follow protocal.. But I have come to understand why he is the way he is.. I for one used to be interested in iron body training and so forth, but have realized that I just wasn't and am still not ready for this training.. My skills still need to be refined and much is still needed to get to that point, but with the help of all of you guys, I hope to be there someday, but not just yet. Steve, thanks for always keeping the doors opened. Blackravin

Hello everybody. One of the main reasons a student isn't just given knowledge of Iron Palm training is that during the first couple of years or more of training, a Sifu is judging the students character. If Iron Palm training or any advanced training is given to a student of "Questionable Morale Character" the training can be used for the wrong reasons." It has happened before". I still haven't found anyone other than my sons that I would teach Iron Palm or certain pressure point technique too. George, Ng Ga Kuen "Paz"

In a proper teacher - student relationship, iron palm training is good. If the teacher is qualified! The student should have proper basics and a good skill level reached before attempting to train iron palm. I've checked out other forums and I'm sad to say that the time frames for these other persons who say they are qualified to teach anything, just don't add up ! Many of these " Masters" were still in their teens when they received all this special training .. Come on, do the math ! Sorry, I just like to see real credit given to people who are deserving ... Do you think I'm wrong ?

George, you're right, charactor is a must ! I think it is self-regulating though. Most of those who are questionable wouldn't spend the time to get involved in something that would take so much time to develop anyway..

About Iron palm ....I dont believe on that ....a boxer strike his heavy bag more of a Martial artist do ....in his training ....Dit da jow and bag training is just conditionning..... Iron palm is just conditionning of the hands ....No secret here ....just conditionning Steeve

Hey Steeve, I'm around 142 lbs dripping wet. Us light guys have to have superior technique to make up for weight. I know that iron palm training increases bone density. Do boxers get the same thing with bag training without dit da jow? I'm assuming that boxers do not use dit da jow, maybe something else. Boxers do not slap the palms as far as I know. Got to be different. Jay

Good question.... Boxers ( Most.) have very weak hands ! They are always wrapped for protection even when hitting a heavy bag. when the gloves are off, when the wraps are off, when the tape is off, their hands are pretty fragile.

Does the open hands techniques are superior to fist techniques....if you have a good conditionning (iron palm)...fist is a very hard weapons but also a very fragile ....you have more chance to break your small knuckle with a punch versus a good palm weapons(palms ,tiger claw and so on) Steeve

Gary You took the words right out of my mouth I have a couple of good friends who were boxers when they were younger [both Golden glove Champs one Pro Light weight] both always train with wrapped hands and both have broken the hands in street fights. and have had problems with their hands since. Iron palm training which is no secret but normally taught to advanced students who have earned the respect through hard training and loyalty to their Sifu. Jay is correct among other things it does increase Bone density. and it does work and not just on Bricks ;D George N.K.G. "Paz"

Remember when you were doing the iron palm and I was just starting my training and I asked about the iron palm and you said something like "when you grow up " lol
